Post 10: English Challenges

I can´t believe that I finally finish the English programme in the university, how time flies!
About what was for me this subject, I think that the obligation of the university about coming to learn English is very boring and a mere formality. Really, because it’s an obligation it’s boring... but I have to say that anyway I have entertained with the exercises, the teacher and my classmates. I would like to express my gratitude to the teacher, because she always have so much energy and a good disposition for teach us. Also she always shows very compressive with the student movement and his strikes, at difference from others teachers in English.
I believe that doing blogs is some of the best exercises to learn English… but in my opinion it would be more pedagogical to be talking in English a lot all the time. When someone learns specific things you tend to forgive it very soon… it’s in the constant practice when you really learn. That’s because I really believe that going to a country where the English is the principal language, is the best way to learn English. I hear about many people that learn in this way, even when they not know anything about the language.
I have to improve my pronunciation and learn more words and some things of the grammar or syntax. I hope to go someday to an English-speaking country and then learn this language to the level of speaking without problems. Anyway, if I can’t do it by now, I could listen to English-speaking TV series or read this language in papers or something.
In these days I practically don’t use English to speak. I just use it to sing or understand the songs of bands that are wrote in English, but, for example, I never met some foreigner to speak with him or her. But sometimes, I like to speak in English with my little sister (she is 13 years old), for make some jokes that our mom can’t understand, for sing our favorite songs, and sometimes we read the news and the spoilers of the series that we follow, like The walking dead, or the Game of Thrones.

Post 9: Changes to my Study Programme

I’m studying psychology, in the four year of the career. When I think about it I just can realize that the time flies jaja. And, when I think about what changes I would make in the study programme, I think in a lot of things that I like to change. First, something that I and my classmates have talked, is about the professional practice. In our career, we started the practice just in the five year of the study programme, different from the most of the universities that impart the career of psychology, like “La Universidad de la Frontera” (UFRO) in Temuco. They start the professional practice in the second year of the career, and, if well, the practice is not very difficult, they can learn a lot of things about the how the psychology is applicate in the different contexts. So, we feel that we are not the enough trained for the practice in the five year, that supposed to be our final year of career (yeah, of course).
Also, in the five year of my career, we have to take a subject at the same time that we have to make the thesis and the professional practice. So, you can understand that the five year is very complicated. For this reasons, the most of the students in psychology, ends the career in six years and not in five, the formal duration of the career. We think that the five year of the career, have to reduce the academic load. How? Well, maybe the practice can start years before at the final year in the career.
For other sides, the faculty doesn’t counts with an appropriated number of classrooms. So although we have classrooms for our normal classes, we don’t have enough classrooms for our own activities, or the assistantships of the subjects, handle by students. The places for study in the faculty, like the library or the computer rooms also are very small and uncomfortable, very noisy. At the end of the semester, and in the test periods, the library and the computer rooms are full of people, in all the faculty and also all the campus.

I think that is all for now, bye!

Post 7: My Favorite TV show

I don’t watch much TV, but are two programs that usually see when I don’t have nothing to do, o when I’m tired and I need distract myself a little. I can say that my favorites TV programs are Malcolm in the middle and The Simpsons. I really have fun with both programs.
I think everyone knows The Simpsons, they used to be on TV all the day in Canal 13 jaja, but I will talk to them anyway. The Simpsons are an animated show of the Fox channel, created by Matt Groening in 1989. The principal characters are the Simpson’s family: Homer (the father), Marge (the mother), and Lisa, Maggie and Bart like the sons. They live in Springfield, where the histories of the series happen. This show is very funny and ironic; the series is like a satire of the North American society. I think that my favorites episodes are all from the old seasons, they are the best, because the episodes from the recent seasons are very boring and extravagant, I don’t like them.

Malcolm in the Middle is also an American series that also everyone knows, because is really great. This is not an animated series, but like in The Simpsons the principal characters are a family, with the both parents (Hal and Lois), and the sons (Malcolm, Reese, Dewey, Francis and the little Jamie). This series is also very entertaining, the kids are really messy and crazy, and they do a lot of stupid and funny stuff. My favorite characters are Dewey and Francis, because they are different of his brothers. Especially Dewey, he is very intelligent and sensitive, and he likes to play music.

Post 6: Postgraduate Studies

I never think before about what postgraduate course I like to take. But, being an ignorant of all the postgraduate courses that exist, I think I would like to take a Master in Educational Psychology. I’m really interested in this area, and I would like that my future job be associated with the educational field, in some social organization, with projects of alternative learnings.
I would like to study in another country. Canada seems like a very nice place for live, with many opportunities for the foreigners. I have some friends living there, and they told me a lot of good things about that country. Actually I wish see them too there jaja it would very nice live with my friends in Canada. Anyway, travel to study in another country, is something very expensive, and out of my possibilities. That is the same reason because I can’t postulate at some exchange program. My only chance for going to Canada is winning a scholarship, but seems like there are not many scholarships for master´s degree.

I wouldn’t learning at distance, in that case I prefer study for my own account. It must be so boring and unreal learning at that way… I think that the persons have to learning together, with others that you can exchange opinions and discuss.

Post 5: My Future Job

I’m studying psychology, so I think that my future job have to be related with this area. I like the career at now; of course there is a lot of things that I hate from the career too, but in I like the subjects in general.
Someone that study psychology have a big field in which choose, in a lot of different spaces, like schools, business world, social organizations or clinics, in the area of health care.
I would like to work in something that I really like, and I like the social and educational area, so I expect work with some organization with this characteristic (social and educational), with self-management, and a social-politic project. I really like the outdoors activities so I hope I can mix this with my future job, maybe I can going out to the nature places with the people that participate in the organization.
I really want to travel, and I think I will travel a lot in the future, when I finish the university (some day :c), whomever be my job. Anyway, if my job let me travel, so much better.

It is just only one thing that I really don’t want: work in an office. I really hate the offices, they are just like small prisons, so much boring and depressing, like an exploitation symbol.

Post 4: My Favorite Movie

I really like a lot of movies, so I just can’t decide about which one is my favorite. But I decide to write about one that I saw very long time ago, when I was a child. This movie is called “Fight Club”, and it is based on a novel from Chuck Palahniuk with the same name. I like this movie because it is very funny and has a critical attitude with the capitalism system. The principal actors are Brad Pitt as “Tyler Durden”, Edward Norton as the principal character with an unknown name and Helena Bonham Carter as “Marla”. The movie is about a man who has a very monotonous life whose name is never mentioned. He has a typical work in an office, he lives alone and he doesn’t have many friends. But his life suddenly changes when his apartment explodes under mystery circumstances, and he is going to live with a man who recently meets called Tyler Durden. This guy is very secure of himself, and he is very intelligent. Also he is very handsome.

The story happens in an unknown state from USA, and I won’t change anything of the movie, it’s okay just in the way it is.

Post 3: Election Day

In the next presidential election, I’m not interested in going to vote. Why? Because I simply think that voting, have no sense. I think that as long as the state and the neoliberal system exist, with the money as God, nothing is going to change very much. Only the people that organize for them, for provide their own solutions through alternative ways, all together, make true changes.
My opinion about the electoral campaigns is that they just generate a lot of visual and material contamination, and they don`t clean up even when the electoral campaigns ends. When the electoral campaigns starts in Pirque (where I live), I go outside to break all the signs. Or sometimes, when I have the company of my friends, we take out the signs and we use to make dog houses. The signs are really good for that.
I think that the persons can’t ignore the politics. The politics is in our lives, describe the way in which we organize and implicate with the others. So, if I consider to becoming a politician, I think that everyone are politician.

I don’t like the authority, I believe in the horizontal relationships, in the consensus more than the voting.
